How Crust works

The parts, the pages and the flow

Tell Crust what you want to make, when you want it ready and when you're available. Crust works out the rest.

The flow

  1. 1

    Pick what you're making

Choose a style from the library or a saved recipe. Adjust the batch size in the calculator if you need more or fewer.

  2. 2

    Choose a workflow

Pick a fermentation rhythm that suits your day. 'Plan with this' carries it straight into the plan page.

  3. 3

    Anchor it to real time

Tell Crust when you want to bake — or when you're starting — and it lays every stage out on the clock.

  4. 4

    Let Crust fit your day

With working windows on, passive stages stretch or shrink so hands-on steps land when you're free. Crust shows what it changed and any yeast tweak to match.

  5. 5

    Start the dough

It becomes your live plan: one clear next step, a countdown and reminders. Finish a step early or late and everything after it recalculates.

  6. 6

    Bake and log it

When the countdown ends, bake — then log the result with a rating and notes.

How the pages link together

  Recipes ─┐

A recipe says what. A workflow says how long. The plan page turns those two into real times, and your working windows decide where the hands-on steps can sit.

What each part does

  • Home

Your dough at a glance — the next step and countdown when something is fermenting, quick starts when it isn't.

Open here. Tap a category to jump straight into planning.

  • Dough calculator

Baker's percentages for any batch: flour blends, hydration, salt, oil, yeast or starter, preferments and pan loading.

When you want the numbers, or to tweak a recipe before saving it.

  • Recipes & library

Saved recipes plus a browsable library of styles by category, each with a baker's guide.

To pick what you're making, or save your own formula.

  • Workflows

The fermentation stages — mix, bulk, shape, cold proof, warm up, bake — with durations and which steps need you present.

To choose a rhythm (same-day, overnight, 72 hour) or build your own.

  • Plan

Puts a recipe and a workflow on a real clock. Anchor forwards from mixing or backwards from the bake, and see the whole schedule day by day.

Every time you start a dough.

  • Working windows

The hours you're actually free. Crust reshapes passive stages so hands-on steps land inside them, and explains every change.

Set once in Settings, then forget about it.

  • Bake history

Log the bake with a rating, temperatures and notes so the next one is better.

After it comes out of the oven.

Good to know

  • Everything lives on your device — no account, no server.
  • Starter is counted inside your hydration, never added on top.
  • Fermentation times are estimates. Judge the dough, not the clock.
  • Add Crust to your home screen for a full-screen app with offline access.
